Her dual roles enable her to seamlessly blend hands-on patient care with academic excellence, driving innovation in evidence-based healthcare.

Dr. Hespe’s career is defined by her passion for General Practice as the foundation of high-quality, patient-centred healthcare. With over 23 years of leadership at a national level, she is a prominent figure in medical education, research, governance, policy, and health systems. Her current leadership roles include being the Board Director of the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN), The Gender Centre, and a long-standing role within the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). She is a well-respected advocate for equitable, affordable, and accessible care for all Australians.

“My focus is, and always will be, ensuring the Australian community has access to the right care, at the right time, and in the right place. I believe that strong, evidence-based general practice is critical to achieving better health outcomes for all Australians.”

Dr. Hespe’s research, including her PhD on implementing best-practice cardiovascular disease prevention strategies in real-world general practice, reinforces her dedication to providing evidence-based care at GFMP.

In recognition of her significant contributions to general medicine, Dr. Hespe was awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2024 and honoured on the COVID-19 Honour Roll for her GP Leadership role and contributions during the pandemic.
