Mariana Macphail

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Mariana Macphail is a clinical psychologist working in private practice at the Glebe Family Medical Practice and in the Northside Clinic.

She works closely with our team of Glebe doctors and provides assessment and treatment for mood disorders, anxiety, substance use, stress, eating disorders, relationship issues and loss to individuals, couples, families, older adults, adults, adolescents and children.

Mariana trained at the University of Sydney and at the University of Newcastle qualifying as a clinical psychologist in 2010. Her previous career was in finance and management; she changed direction in order to focus on helping help people improve their emotional satisfaction with life.

She finds it very rewarding to work with people who find themselves struggling and she feels it is a privilege to be part of the process of people working towards living fuller and more meaningful lives.

Mariana has been working here at Glebe Family Medical Practice since 2008. ‘The Glebe Family Medical Practice is a place where people can feel cared for and supported by the team of health practitioners and staff’.

Her practice is based on cognitive behaviour therapy and mindfulness. Psychological treatment includes psycho-education, cognitive restructuring, relaxation strategies and skills training in problem solving, anger management, communication, parenting, stress management and mindfulness.

She works under the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative and Workers Compensation scheme. Mariana is not currently taking on any new bulk billing patients. Home visits can also be arranged. Psychological services can be provided in Spanish.
