Can I get a second dose of Pfizer instead of AstraZeneca?
The health advice remains, that you should not mix and match vaccines, for instance by following up an AstraZeneca shot with a Pfizer shot.
According to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the risk of developing the clotting disorder, known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), is much lower on the second dose of the shot. Because of this, anyone who has had a first dose of AstraZeneca without a problem should feel very confident to have their second dose, regardless of age.
How do I book in for my second dose of AstraZeneca?
All patients who have received their first dose of AstraZeneca will be contacted via SMS to book in for their second dose. You will be sent an SMS 2 weeks before you are due for your second dose. You will need to book your second dose online through our website.
If you need to be vaccinated promptly, you also have the option to be vaccinated at the Sydney West Covid Vaccine Centre located at Sydney Olympic Park. You can head to their website https://www.sydwestvac.com.au/ to book an appointment.
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated during this time.
